About Coach Rich Brooks
UK Football Head Coach Rich Brooks has brought over 40 years of collegiate and NFL coaching experience to UK's Football program, with outstanding results. Under his leadership, UK has enjoyed a string of three straight post-season bowl victories, UK's best ever, and has beaten top-10 teams including 2007 National Champion LSU.
Coach Brooks has also built a powerful coaching staff. The UK staff is well-respected in the industry, having received numerous offers from professional and college teams, and features a broad range of experience in pro, college, and high-school football. Naming Joker Phillips and Steve Brown as offensive and defensive coordinators made UK the first school in Southeastern Conference history to have African-Americans in those positions at the same time.
Since coming to UK, Brooks has received the Blanton Collier Award by the Kentucky chapter of the National Football League Players Association Alumni. Brooks was also a finalist for the 2007 Liberty Mutual National Coach of the Year Award.
Coach Brooks and his wife, Karen, started the foundation after their first year in the Commonwealth. The main goal of the foundation is to help those in need in Kentucky, with primary focus on cancer victims of all ages, and those affected with childhood illnesses.
Coach and Karen have been married for 46 years, and have lived in California, Oregon, Missouri, Georgia, and of course Kentucky.
